Cardio Training Improves Fitness
Cardiovascular activity is essential to a well-balanced workout regimen. In short, cardio training works the heart and can burn calories and fat at the same time. There are a variety of activities one can choose from depending on an individual’s goals and preferences. Let’s take a look at some of them.
In order to get an effective workout, it must be enjoyable. Otherwise, we’ll become bored and give up far too soon. All too often, we choose an activity because we feel obligated to do. Some enjoy working out on machines inside the gym while others can only get a good workout if they go outdoors. Be sure to figure out what type of fitness atmosphere is most conducive to your lifestyle and then stick to it.
If you’re the gym type, try a new type of cardio. If you always run on the treadmill and are tired of it, try walking at a fast pace on a steep incline. Make sure you do not hold on to the handlebars! If you always use the bike, try the elliptical machine. The point here is to try something new, and if you’re not sure how to use a piece of equipment, ask a personal trainer to help get you started.
In addition to cardio activities in the gym, your local park can provide an equally satisfying workout. Try setting up a circuit at the park with a few like minded friends. Alternate running with skipping and jumping. Add in a few sprints and squats along the way, and you have yourself a heart pumping cardio workout.
Finally, if you’re the type to get bored quickly, try a group fitness class. Many gyms offer a full program of activities ranging from dance to kickboxing. Working out in this atmosphere is encouraging and will help the time pass quickly. Lastly, don’t forget to have fun! Using Polar RS300X heart rate monitor or Suunto T1 heart rate monitor would also help improve your fun.
