Hazel Atlas milk glass was used for kitchen furnishings like mixing bowls and salt and pepper shakers, and for dinnerware, when it was called platonite. Originally, the thinner areas of glass, like the edges, were more translucent than the main part of the milk glass object, but then the process was improved so the glass was the same translucency throughout. Both are collected by Hazel Atlas admirers.
The forth claim to fame for the Hazel Atlas Company is the tumblers and goblets they made to be filled with food. Many food packing companies used the glass container as an incentive to buy their product by offering a reusable drinking glass as the food container. Swankyswigs, juice glasses, water glasses and entire glass sets could be assembled while purchasing jams, jellies, peanut butter, etc.
