A Couple of Unusual Things To Do In Paris
Of course everyone knows the Eiffel Tower and The Louvre and The Sacre Couer. But what are some more unusual things to do in the wonderful city that is Paris? Let’s take a look.
Le Cimetière des Chiens, the Dog Cemetery in Asnières-sur-Seine
In French, it translates as “The Cemetery of Dogs and Other Pets”. It’s definitely an unusual thing to do in Paris, that’s for sure! It’s a pet cemetery! It’s about a 25 minute metro ride from central Paris, but it’s very interesting. With all sorts of statues dedicated to the dogs, such as the one dedicated to a World War I trench dog. The inscription reads that he ‘saved the life of more then 40 people’.
Tour of the Paris Sewers
It’s a fun (and slightly smelly) way to see the underground of Paris. Steeped in history (and once a lot of other things too), the Paris Sewers Tour will take you on a trip that generally lasts about 30 minutes. It’s interesting to see how such a large city manages to cope with all its waste, so don’t just come and see the Notre Dame and Gustav’s Tower – see the Paris Sewers as well!
Visit The Centre Georges Pompidou
It’s an extremely funky building, and also offers fantastic views from the top of it. What you can do is ride the free elevator to the top where the ‘restaurant’ is, don’t go in to eat (unless you enjoy spending a lot), but just enjoy the views from the top floor near the restaurant entrance. Then you get to joy ride down on all of the escalators that go side to side down the building.
Whatever you get up to in Paris, whether it’s the normal and amazing stuff to be seen or the quirky and weird – it’s guaranteed you’ll have a good time, so get out there and enjoy yourself!
