In the collected group of corner group sofas, one section serves to categoize any and every corner grouping. Both fabric corner sofas and leather corner sofas have such a section. Sometimes an extremely large collection of seating units has two such sections. It is the section at the corner or corners of that impressive piece of sectional furniture.
Some corner groups have one armed section and one chaise section. The chaise like section is placed adjacent to armless side of its “partner.” If someone standing in front of a chaise and arm section combination sees that the lounging portion of that group is on their right, then they can call the viewed item an RT or right facing corner sofa. If the a lounger would favor the section on the left, then the viewed item represents a left facing seating group.
Some cheap corner sofas have two one armed sections that have been pushed together. Obviously, this can only be done if the two partnered units do not have their single armrest on the same side. A unit with an armrest on the right can be matched with one that has an armrest on the left, and vice versa.
A third type of corner forming sectional pieces contains what is called a “wedge piece.” The cushioned seat of the wedge piece has two angled sides and two straight sides. The angled sides allow this strange piece to be wedged between two armed units of a whole corner grouping.
Behind the backrest of the wedge, there is a distinct “corner formation.” That allows a wedge shaped piece to define the corner shape of a large many sectioned piece. That corner also gives the wedge a tiny platform, a space in which a guest might want to rest a coctail glass or an appetizer plate. Following any social event, a careful hostess makes certain to retrieve any item that has been placed onto that tiny unintended yet functional “shelf.”
